AI in schools: practical uses beyond chatbots

"AI in education" is overhyped. Most ChatGPT-style demos collapse in a real school because they are not grounded in the school’s data. Here is where AI actually earns its keep in a modern school ERP.

• **Model routing.** Math and reasoning queries should go to a reasoning model. Casual chat should go to a fast chat model. Otherwise you pay reasoning rates for everything.
• **Local language support.** Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali — at minimum. Parents and students in tier 2/3 cities need their own language.
• **Usage caps.** Per-student daily limits keep costs predictable.
